Optimum Polymer Technologies, the manufacturer of Optimum Ceramic Coatings, was founded in Memphis, Tennessee, on July 01, 2001 by Dr. David Ghodoussi. Prior to this, Dr. Ghodoussi worked for over 12 years as an Organic Chemist overseeing research and development focused on polymers and automotive paint formulations.

Opti-Coat ceramic coating is not a paint protection wax or paint sealant that will wash away after a few washes and deteriorate over time, it is an SIC 9H hardness coating that becomes harder than your factory paint this results in the reduction of swirls and finer scratches  and creates a permanent bond to your vehicles paint surface like an additional layer of clear coat and can be only removed by abrasion.The primary function of a ceramic coating is to protect the surface it is applied to. SiO2 and TiO2 based resins will hydrolyse and diminish over time. The hydrolysis and degradation of SiO2 and TiO2 based resins is accelerated with high pH products (such as alkaline degreasers) as well as at low pH cleaners (acid wash, etc.). By removing the Oxygen group and using SiC linkages as the polymer backbone, our coatings are unaffected by low or high pH levels (acids and alkalines) and resistant to UV breakdown.

CSIRO Test Report

In 2012 Opti-Coat was submitted to CSIRO for independent testing of chemical resistance, and scratch resistance claims. Opti-Coat is the first and only coating in the protection industry to submit to such voluntary testing to Australian standards.

Concentrated acids and ethanol were used to simulate the effects of environmental substances on the coating all with no effect, and a tungsten carbide needle used to see how much pressure was required to penetrate the coating.
